Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is one of the most popular teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The team has been a part of the IPL since the inaugural season in 2008. Over the years, RCB has had some star players in their ranks, such as Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle, and Shane Watson, among others.
RCB has reached the final of the IPL thrice but has failed to win the title so far. The team finished as runners-up in 2009, 2011, and 2016. In the last few seasons, RCB has struggled to perform consistently, finishing in the bottom half of the table. However, the team has made some big signings for the upcoming season, and it will be interesting to see how they perform in the 2023 IPL season.
One of the team’s major players and the former captain of India, Virat Kohli, resigned as RCB’s captain before to the 2022 competition. Faf du Plessis, a former player for CSK, was purchased by RCB ahead of the 2022 season and given the responsibility of captain. Faf led the team into the playoffs last year having a powerful bat.
RCB’s objective will be the same as it has been every year: to win their first IPL championship. The squad also includes experienced finisher Dinesh Karthik, power hitter Glenn Maxwell of Australia, in-form pacer Mohammed Siraj of India, one of Sri Lanka’s best spinners Wanindu Hasaranga, and many other strong players in addition to Kohli and Du Plessis.
On February 17, Friday, the BCCI released the schedule for the IPL 2023. RCB will begin their season on April 2, 2023, when they take on Mumbai Indians at their home stadium, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Like all other teams, they will play a total of 14 games during the league stage.
